COMPACT LIVING Wall hung laundry basket for clothes (2005). In 2005, for the first time in history, it is estimated that there will be more people living in cities than on the countryside… As a student you are often forced to live in a single room. Thus, every part of your home has to fit between the same four walls. The dining table are often used as a work desk and your bed becomes your sofa. This project is about exploiting the unused space within these walls. Instead of placing your laundry basket on the floor this laundry pouch is wall hung. The Pouch is made out of elastic fabric that can expand or shrink with the amount of clothes. In that way it doesn’t consume more space than necessary. The clothes is in addition compressed by the elastic pouch creating sculptural shapes on the wall. The growing shapes also gives you a clear indication of when it is time to do the laundry. | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
